This direct connection was cut when Trimble, the current owner of SketchUp, transitioned to a new mapping service provider. As a result, the "Add Location" feature in SketchUp 2021 relies on a different source for its satellite imagery and terrain data.
What geolocation does
Geolocating a model embeds precise latitude and longitude coordinates into your SketchUp file. This unlocks several critical capabilities:

In the tray, you can switch between the 2D Snapshot and the 3D Terrain.
If you need to change your location or remove it, you can manage this in the panel: Go to Window > Model Info . Select Geo-location on the left menu.
